TEN LITTLE ELEPHANTS
Teacher’s Notes
Target Language
Numbers 1-10
Instructions
1 If there are more than ten students in your class, divide them into groups of ten or
less. Allocate a number between 1 and 10 to each student. All the students in one
group should have different numbers (one student should always be 1). Ask all the
students to stand up.
2 As the students sing, any student whose number is mentioned sits down.
3 For the second half of the song, number the students 10, 20, 30, etc.
Variation
Instead of standing up and sitting down, they could hold up ten fingers, reveal or cover
up pictures of elephants, dance in a circle and all fall down except one student (or ten
students) at the end.
Follow up
1 The students can count in multiples of two, three, four, etc. backwards or forwards.
2 Other animals can be used instead of elephants. The students can mime the animal
and/or make the sound of the animal after each verse, or at the end of the song.
