Family and How many…?
Materials
A ball or fluffy animal.
Instructions
1 The children clap and sing. If the number of children is small, each of them answers
the question. If the number is more than seven or eight, one of the children (or
teacher) can point to indicate who should answer, or they can throw a ball (or fluffy
animal) as quickly as possible – the child answers as he or she catches the ball.
2 After singing the basic version of the song, the children decide what other How
many…? questions to ask. Encourage the children to think of examples which make
them smile (e.g. teeth, sandwiches, etc.).
Follow up
1 The things they ask about can be varied (e.g. How many toes…? How many cats…?
How many computer games…? ).
2 The question How many… do you have? can be changed to How many… are there? and
they can sing about their homes, their school, their city, etc.
