I - INTRODUCTION:
Battery:
- To facilitate battery testing when preparing the new
vehicle, the battery cover is placed temporarily in the
luggage compartment.
This Technical Note describes the stages to be fol-
lowed for the preparation of new vehicles before hand-
over.
- Check the battery (see Technical Note 3682A Routi-
ne battery check before delivering new vehicles).
Transfer the Battery correct code to the Delivery qua-
lity sheet in accordance with the MIDTRONICS test or
the code corresponding to the indicator light test.
Note:
For all points in the preparation process marked
with [ ], the relevant check is the direct responsibility
of the dealership and will be carried out as close as
possible to the delivery of the new vehicle (tyre
inflation pressures, checking and topping up fluids,
ensuring no instrument panel warning lights come
on, etc.).
- SuperSleep mode (if fitted to the vehicle):
• To conserve the battery, some functions are disa-
bled in the factory. The two direction indicators in the
instrument panel are permanently lit when a door is
opened to indicate this mode.
• To deactivate this mode, simultaneously pull down
the two levers under the steering wheel then return
them to their original position (do not switch on the
ignition to deactivate this mode).
II - IMPORTANT POINTS:
-If the vehicle is stored after its preparation, take out
the consumer cut-out fuse (see Technical Note or
MR), and if the vehicle must remain in storage for
more than three months, disconnect the battery (see
Technical Note or MR).
• If the Warning battery charge indicator light comes
on, carry out the procedures described in Technical
Note 3682A.
- To guarantee that the battery remains in good condi-
tion, keep the number of vehicle engine starts to a mi-
nimum. Test the battery just before delivery to the
customer (taking into account the possible charging
time).
WARNING
Never drive the vehicle over long distances without
the battery cover fitted. This can lead to irreparable
faults in the injection computers (example:
MEGANE II).
- When connecting a battery, initialise some of the ve-
hicle functions (see Technical Note or MR).
Exterior:
- Check in the ICM (Shared World Information) databa-
se that the vehicle is not affected by an OTS (Special
Technical Operation).
- Check the operation of the locks (key or card) and the
doors and tailgate.
Wheels and tyres:
-[ ] Pressurise the tyres (to full load) including the
emergency spare wheel (or check that there is a
puncture repair aerosol and check its expiry date),
then make sure that the valve caps are in place.
III - OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE
PREPARATION:
Preliminary operations:
- Check the external appearance of the vehicle and ap-
ply a slight touch-up if necessary.
- Fit the wheel trims.
Engine compartment:
- Fit the vehicles with optional equipment (alarm, radio,
etc.).
-[ ] Check and top up the fluids:
- Check that the spare key or second card is present.
Removing the protection features and washing:
Test conditions:
- Remove the exterior protection, rubbers and adhesi-
ves.

-For LOGAN clean off the wax on the painted bo-
dywork and bumpers (see 01F Introduction to bo-
dywork, New vehicle: Cleaning ).

All vehicle levels following the new vehicle preparation
process must comply with the acceptance criteria des-
cribed above.
- Remove the adhesive protectors if present (e.g. on
the front engine cover).
- For the MODUS and CLIO III:
•[ ] Fit the battery cover. In certain cases, this is pro-
visionally placed in the luggage compartment.
WARNING
An engine oil level above the maximum value may
cause engine breakdown.
•[ ] For 1.6 16V (K4M) engines, position the resonator
on the air inlet duct (on the left-hand side of the vehi-
cle, close to the battery).
Passenger compartment:
A level below the minimum value indicates a fault.
- Fit the consumer cut-out fuse (see Technical Note or
MR).
Note:
-Check the operation of the ventilation in all positions
(including in recirculation mode).
- Check the operation of the sliding seat adjustments
(including the access to the rear seats).
Topping up the fluid is often required because of a
leak in the circuit.
It is essential to check the general condition of the
vehicle if a significant amount of fluid is being
added.
- Check the operation of the electric seats.

-Check the operation of the sliding centre console
(SCENIC II depending on the version).
1 - Before ignition:
- Check the operation of the sunroof.
- Front and rear courtesy lights/reading light.
- Check the operation of the window lifts (including the
one-touch function).
-Interior lighting (vanity mirror, storage compartment,
etc.).
- Check the operation of the electric door mirrors.
- Luggage compartment lighting.
- Check the operation of the windscreen washer and
rear screen washer jets, and the headlight washers.
- Hazard and warning lights.
- Enter the four digit radio code.
Lighting switch at side light position:
- If the vehicle is fitted with a video system, see the
special note.
- Lights on reminder buzzer (door open).
- Front and rear side lights.
- Check the operation of the navigation system (check
that the screen lights up and that the speakers are
functioning (press the + button on the CARMINAT
keyboard)). Calibrate the system just before the vehi-
cle is delivered to the customer.
- Instrument panel lighting.
- Side light indicator light or instrument panel lighting
(depending on the vehicle).
- Registration plate lights.
- Check the operation of the speech synthesiser.
Lighting switch set to urban - road position:
- Check that the key for locking the light alloy wheel
rims is in place.
- Dipped headlights and indicator light.
- Check that the onboard kit (the card holder, Owner's
Manual, Maintenance Booklet, radio user guide, navi-
gation system manual and CD-ROM) is in place and
that it is correct and complete. Important point: Check
that the Owner's Manual is in the correct language.
- Main beam headlights and indicator light.
- Front fog lights and indicator light.
- Rear fog lights and indicator light.
- Place the mats inside the vehicle.
2 - After switching on the ignition:
- Remove the interior protection except for the bag pro-
tecting the engine oil filler neck (depending on vehi-
cle).
Instrument panel -indicators:
- Set the trip computer to zero (depending on the vehi-
cle).
- Fit the cup holder on the sliding centre console (SCE-
NIC II depending on version).
- Set the time on the clock.
- Check that the tool set is in place (jack, etc.).
- Front and rear direction indicators and warning lights.
- Fit a puncture repair aerosol for all vehicles not fitted
with an emergency spare wheel.
- Brake lights.
- DIESEL preheating indicator light.
- Check the interior appearance of the vehicle.
- Seat belt buckle reminder light and buzzer (vehicle in
motion).
Miscellaneous:
- Fuel (if requested by the customer).
-Fit the registration plates (including the registration
plate for VELOFIX, if fitted to the vehicle).
Note:
[ ] Check that none of the indicator lights remain lit
after the engine is started.
- Fit the exhaust tailpipe (depending on the vehicle).
IV - OPERATION OF LIGHTING - INDICATORS -
WARNING LIGHTS:
If an indicator light or a message is lit, force the indica-
tor light or message to go out by running a self-test pro-
cedure on the instrument panel (press the trip
computer button when switching on the ignition).
Before any tests are carried out, always refit the short
circuit fuse and disable the Super Sleep mode (if fitted
to the vehicle).
Confirm the absence of faults with a road test.
