The 11-Step Quick Start Blueprint for
Making Your Passion a Reality
I’m not a huge fan of quick-start guides, but they can really shed some light on how
to get started.
I’m a big believer in blogging, because it can take you places you never thought
possible, but I think you already knew all that.
Blogging isn’t for everyone though, but it is a fantastic way to find your path, and
your people. You may end up blogging for a while, only to make the right
connections with the right people, which in turn will catapult you onto a completely
different path.
The internet is an amazing place, and not tapping into it is a huge mistake, in my
humble opinion.
Let’s get started!
1. Finish The Worksheets
If you haven’t gone through the worksheets (or the clarity sheets), please do so
before continuing, because they are magical. They will help you get clear on what
you want, what your fears are, and how you can make your life absolutely
phenomenal.
2. Put On Your Detective Hat
By now you should have somewhat of an idea of what your passion is. If you have
several in mind, that’s fine. I want you to go online and start looking for what
people are already doing.

For example, if you’re into dogs, go to Amazon , ClickBank , and do a Google search
to see what blogs are out there and what they’re selling.
It’ll give you an idea of what people want to see, but remember to stay focused on
what you’re passionate about. These are just hints, not rules.

3. Get Hosting And Get Started
There are a lot of different web hosts available. I recommend Hostgator . Their
prices are great, support is awesome, and they have a 1-click wordpress install,
which means you don’t have to have any technical skills to get a blog up.
When you get to their website, click on “view web hosting plants”, and choose the
baby package.

4. Coming up with a domain name
It took me quite a while to come up with the name Wake Up Cloud. I did it by
thinking about what I wanted my blog to represent. I also looked around the web for
ideas from other blogs.
For example, if you’re going to write about gardening, you have so many different
options available, such as TheHeavenlyHerbalist, GearedforGardening, or something
like StevesGardeningExperience (if your name is Steve).
I’m horrible at coming up with names, as you may have already noticed, but what I
want to get across is this: don’t get too caught up in your domain name. Make it
simple, stop coming up with excuses, and light a fire under your ass!
5. Pick a Kick-Ass Theme for Your Blog

A theme is the clothing you put on your blog.
There are an incredible amount of free themes for Wordpress you can use. Simply
go to Google and do a search for “free wordpress themes”. I personally use Thesis ,
which is a premium theme. It costs a few bucks, but it rocks.

You can always switch themes later very easily. That is what makes Wordpress so
beautiful. Pick one theme, get started, and if you feel like it later, you can switch to
something else.
The important thing is to keep moving forward without getting stuck in the details.
6. Tell People Who You (Really) Are
I see a lot of blogs neglecting their about me page. One of the most popular pages
on a blog is the about page, so make sure you put up a picture of yourself, and
explain why you’re doing what you’re doing.
Be yourself, and have fun with it. Think about it as talking to a friend. The more of
yourself you can be, the more you’ll attract the right people, your people.
7. Write 5 Great Posts
Before you go out and tell the world about your blog, write at least 5 great blog
posts, because getting traffic to an empty blog just doesn’t make sense, does it?
If you’re into natural health, like I am, you could write posts like:
7 Brilliant Tips for Staying Fit, Healthy, and Vibrant by Eating the Right Foods
5 Nasty Secrets About Vegetables They Aren’t Telling You
How to Get Healthy Without Giving Up Your Favorite Foods
Make the headlines as interesting as you can. A great place to learn how to write
headlines is this post over at Copyblogger.
8. Start Your Journey
Now that you’ve written a few blog posts, start looking for relevant blogs to leave
comments on.

They don’t have to be long, and they don’t have to be short, as long as they are as
good as you can make them without stressing out. Add something to the
conversation. Be yourself, and share your own story.
Simply put: write comments that you would welcome with open arms to your own
blog.

9. Embrace Consistency
I’m going to kill one myth here and now. You ready?
You don’t have to write every single day to make this work. What you have to do is
pick a writing schedule that resonates with you, and makes you feel good.
Start slow and see how it feels. I started off writing three posts a week, but after six
months, I went down to one a week, and then I went to 1-2 a week. It’s a continuous
process.
10. Write Great Articles For Others
Guest posting helped me go from 0 to 1,012 subscribers in 101 days . It can be
scary at first, but it is the best way to grow your blog, and take giant leaps towards
your goal(s).
Start on small blogs and work your way up. It’ll be much easier, and you’ll build up
your confidence. Don’t dismiss guest posting, because the power it holds is
mindboggling!
11. Enjoy yourself, please!
Don’t take this all too seriously. The most important part is to have fun. You’ll learn
a lot, you’ll grow as a person, and you’ll meet a lot of like-minded people.
That is what blogging is all about.
And that is what life is about!
