Practice ii Use the information to practice making statements using, ‘for,’ or, ‘since.’ i.e.

·         Peter plays rugby every weekend. Peter joined the rugby club ten years ago.

           Peter has played rugby for ten years.      

1)      John does yoga every morning. He began yoga 5 years ago.

2)      Risako works in a bank. Risako started working in a bank in 2008.

3)      Mattius can speak French. Mattius learnt French in Junior High School.

4)      Caroline is a nurse. Caroline became a nurse 2 years ago.

5)      Paolo plays the piano. Paolo learnt to play the piano 10 years ago.

6)      Erik and Janet live in New York. They moved to New York in April.

Jane: He has been a snowboarder for about four years now. He started when he was in Junior High School.

Paula: I see. So, how long has he competed for?

Jane: He hasn’t been competing for long - this is his first year.

Paula: That’s great! You must be very proud. Have you been to any of the events?

Jane: Yes, I go whenever I can - usually every other weekend.

Paula: How many times have you seen him compete this season?

Jane: I’ve only missed one event - last weekend I couldn’t go because I had to meet an old friend. Brad has competed in four events but I have only watched him in three events since the season started. I’m so proud of him.
