GAME SETUP
INSTALLING MAT HOFFMAN PROBMX
• To Install Mat Hoffman’s Pro BMX , insert the game CD into your
CD-ROM drive.
• If Autoplay is enabled, the Installer splash screen should appear.
• When the Installer splash screen appears, click on the Install button.
• For online help and Electronic Registration, click the Help/Support button.
• Uninstall Mat Hoffman’s Pro BMX shortcut: If you wish to remove Mat
Hoffman’s Pro BMX from your hard drive, you should always use the Shortcut
from the Start Menu. The Uninstall Mat Hoffman’s Pro BMX option will
remove all game files except your saved games and personal settings.
Note: You can return to the splash screen at any time without affecting your
installed game.
DirectX ® Setup Program will install the appropriate files on your computer. See the
online Mat Hoffman’s Pro BMX Technical Help file for additional information.
Q: What is DirectX ® 8 and why do I need it?
A: Microsoft’s DirectX 8 is a set of functions that give Windows 95/98/2000/ME
games and other applications their power. These functions allow applications to
perform advanced functions in networking, graphics, sound and input, beyond
what’s possible on other operating systems. It also accounts for many of the
performance gains associated with Windows 95/98 games.
Q: If I don’t install DirectX ® 8 when I install the game, can I install
it later?
A: Yes. You can manually install it. To do so, use the following instructions:
• Place the disc in the CD-ROM drive and exit from any Autoplay screens.
• Double-click on My Computer .
• Right-click on your CD-ROM drive and choose Install DirectX ® .
• Follow the installation process. When DirectX ® installation finishes, you will
need to restart your computer for the new drivers to work.
Q: I already have other Windows 95/98/2000/ME games installed on my computer.
Will the Microsoft DirectX ® Installer change my DirectX ® files?
A: If you already have other Windows 95/98/2000/ME games on your computer,
chances are you already have the initial version of DirectX ® installed. In this
case, the Microsoft Installer will detect and overwrite any previous versions with
DirectX ® 8. At that point, you will need to restart your computer for the changes
to take effect.
If, however, you already have DirectX ® 8 installed on your computer, the
Microsoft DirectX ® 8 Installer will detect it and not overwrite any DirectX ® 8 files.
AUTOPLAY
If the Mat Hoffman’s Pro BMX splash screen does not appear, try performing the
following steps:
• Double-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop, or right-click on the
Mat Hoffman Pro BMX CD drive icon and choose the Open option.
• After the folder has opened, double-click on the file titled Setup.exe . This will
launch the game’s splash screen.
DIRECTX ® 8
During the Mat Hoffman’s Pro BMX setup, the install process will determine if
Microsoft® DirectX® needs to be installed on your computer. If so, the Microsoft

SINGLE-PLAYER MODES
BRINGING BMX TO THE PEOPLE
Mat “The Condor” Hoffman, ten-time world vert champ and BMX revolutionary,
lives to bring BMX to the people. It started when he hooked a ramp to a diesel
truck and toured the country, performing at local county fairs and inventing
many of the modern freestyle vert tricks. After that he created the Bicycle Stunt
Series, the Crazy Freakin’ Bikers Series, and started Hoffman Bikes. Continuing
to build the sport Hoffman formed the Hoffman Sports Association—the
production team that produces and sanctions bicycle stunt events in the United
States and internationally for many organizations, including ESPN's X Games.
The tradition continues with Mat Hoffman’s Pro BMX. This time he's hooked
up with seven of BMX’s top pros—Escamilla, Kowalski, McCoy, Nastazio,
Robinson, Tabron and Thorne. Now you can ride like these pros, pulling off
signature tricks on their sponsored bikes and moving up the BMX ranks. It's
Pro BMX—are you ready to ride?
CAREER MODE
You are a pro rider now, and as any self-respecting
pro knows, magazine covers are vital to your career.
Complete the different tasks and you will earn
magazine covers. When you have collected enough
magazine covers, you will be invited to the elite
competitions.
SINGLE SESSION
Choose a single level and ride for two minutes in an effort to set high scores.
Only one level is opened at first, Mat Hoffman’s Bike Factory in Oklahoma City.
Obtain covers in Career Mode to unlock other levels.
FREE RIDE
Choose a level and ride as long as you like. Practice the levels unlocked in
Career Mode and learn the lines.
MAIN MENU
Choose from the following options to begin play.
Using the arrow keys, choose the the type of game
you want to play. Press Enter to start that game.
MULTI-PLAYER MODES
HORSE GAME
How do you spell defeat? “H.O.R.S.E” (or the word of
your choice) in this one-on-one best trick contest. Nail
a trick, then watch as your opponent tries to beat it.
Your opponent must match or beat your score. If not,
he or she gets a letter. First one to get all the letters
tastes defeat.

NETWORK GAME
Choose Network Game to play over the LAN.
DISPLAY OPTIONS
Edit your graphic settings.
GRAFFITI
Obstacles are “tagged” with your color by tricking off
them. Try to steal your opponent’s tags by pulling
better tricks off the same object. He or she who tags
the most objects wins.
SOUND LEVELS
SFX Volume : Use the left and right arrows to adjust the sound effect level.
Music Volume : Use the left and right arrows to adjust the music level.
VIEW VIDEOS MENU
Load Replay – Load a previously saved Replay.
Replay Menu
Full Replay – Plays Full Replay of your run from start to
finish.
Highlights – Shows a series of snippets of your run.
Exit – Exits to Main Menu.
While watching your replay, button prompts are listed quickly at the bottom.
ESC – Exits Replay
P – Pause Replay
SPACE BAR – Frame advance (you must press P first)
Cinematics 1 & 2 – Unlock videos as you play through Career Mode. Get two
medals and you’ve got yourself a movie. Footage includes highlights from each
BMX Pro and some special bail sessions.
Activision O 2 – View the O 2 video.
Game Credits – See the names behind the making of Mat Hoffman’s Pro BMX.
TRICK ATTACK
A timed free-for-all to see who can create the best lines and rack up the most
points.
