Note:

I really tried hard to compress the pictures and make this a two page Ws. I wasn’t successful. This Ws was designed together with the ‘Animal cards Tell me the truth for the ‘Guess the animal’ game.

Instructions

After Ws is done individually, I put students play the ‘Guess the animal’ game. For that I give 15 cards to groups of students (you need as many photocopies as groups you want to make). We place cards face down. They draw one card, describe the animal in simple sentences (e.g. They are big. They have big mouths. They have sharp teeth. They like water.’) If a student in the group guesses the animal described (e.g. crocodile) S1 (who made the description) can keep the card. The winner is the student with most cards.

Variation – I sometimes do it as a whole class activity (to save money!). Ss come to the front, draw card, describe it, and if the class guesses, that student is rewarded either with a sticker or with the animal card itself. I make sure all students have a chance to draw a card. As a follow up, they stick their card in their notebooks and write a description of the animal.
