Terry McGuffin's "MeadowSong"
Many thanks to Terry McGuffin for sharing this
challenging pattern from her first book, "Tatted
Ornaments" with the online tatting class.
"Meadowsong" offers many possibilities for
personalization of this pattern. Both the blossoms
and the butterflies could be tatted in a rainbow of
colors. The greenery and sleeping seeds offer
earthy color tones to balance the gay pastels
above. Equally effective in solid white or color,
this pattern is not only a lovely decoration for a
Christmas ornament, but as an edging it can be
adapted to many uses.

#12 Perle Cotton or size 40-50 thread, 2 shuttles, large glass ornament (Split rings)
Row 1, 2 shuttles
1. R 9-8-9.
2. R9+ (to last p of PR) 4-4-9.
3. R9+ (to last p of PR) 4-4-9.

13 R9+ (to last p of PR) 4+ (to p in leaf#l) 4-9.
14 R9+ (to last p of PR) 4+ (to last p in last petal of previous daisy) 4-9.
Repeat #3-14 for 11 patterns. There were 12 patterns in the pictured ornament. You may
use more or less. This row should fit snuggly around center of ornament.
12th pattern, complete six petals as before

Join at first p in lower chain.
Ch 5 [JK (Josephine knot) of 14 first half stitches] 5+ (to 2nd p in lower leaf)
Ch 5-2-2-15 [R5- (picot in this ring, join to last p of PR in remaining rings) 3-3-5]
15-2-2-5+ to first p in next chain.
Continue around joining last ring to first.
Top R 7-4-4-7. RW
*Ch 4-4-4-4 RW
R 7+ (to last p of PR) 4-4-7. Leave long thread, SKJ into first p in chain. Lace together
using 1st & 3rd picots of chain and inside picots of butterflies.
Multi-color
Load shuttle (full) with daisy color. Wrap second shuttle in green for leaves and stems.
You can add beads to center but be careful to pull rings tightly together.
