Christmas Tree
3. Reinforce the creases, and shape the paper into a
tree.
Developed in Dec ‘03 by Ching-Yu Hung.
This is really Kirikomi, which uses cutting as essential
part of the design.
4. Open up the tree so that the white side is up. Fold
in and out the 4 corners as shown. Cut along the
horizontal and vertical half-lines as deep as the
spacing between the corner fold in-outs. Shape it
back to a tree.
1. Start with the colored side of a square paper.
Make valley-fold creases on diagonals and
vertical/horizontal halves.

2. Turn the paper over so what the white side is facing
up. Make valley-fold creases mid-angle in between
the creases in Step 1.

5. Turn over the tree. Pull out each corner fold in-out
(fold lines a and b; leave c alone), and fold back but
over the two flaps formed by the incisions. This keeps
the tree together without using glue.
6. You can leave the tree as is, or can also make cuts
into the tree to make the branches.
