Materials Required:
Pastel Blue paper 11cm x 16cm.
Quilling tool.
4mm Olive Green quilling paper.
3mm Quilling paper: Pale Blue, Flesh, Salmon,
Rust, Brown, Olive Green, Dark Green, Pale
Green, Burnt Orange and Black.
P. V.A. Craft Adhesive.
Card Mount: AP01U.
To Make The Card:
My background paper is hand marbled using
white paint to give a swirling sea effect, if you
don’t want to try marbling for yourself any pas-
tel blue paper would do instead. Glue the paper
behind the aperture and glue the card closed.
I have used a fine crimping tool on the paper
for the seaweed, octopi legs and crabs legs. If you
don’t have a fine crimper you can use a ribbler
but the ribbles will be coarser than mine. The
coarse effect can be lessened slightly by gently
stretching the paper after ribbling which flattens
out the bumps just a little.

Eyes:
Make six of these. All
the eyes are made from
tight pegs of black paper
wound just two or three
turns round the tool. Glue
the end before removing
from the tool.
Crabs:
Make two of these.
Make two loose coils
from quarter lengths of
flesh, secure the ends
with glue. Flatten one
side of each coil and
glue the flat sides
together. Cut a black
(eye) peg in half so it is
less deep and glue both
pieces onto the crab to
make the eyes. Crimp
a short length of flesh
paper and snip off two
2cm lengths. Fold each

Fish:
Make two using half
lengths of rust paper and
two using quarter lengths
of salmon paper. Make a
loose coil and glue the end,
pinch at one end to shape.
Snip off a 15mm length
of rust paper and another
in salmon, cut a ‘V’ into one

piece in half and glue one to
each side of the crab to make
the legs.

Octopi:
Make two
of these. Roll
a half length
of pale blue
to make a
loose coil.
Glue the end
and flatten
one side.
Crimp a
length of pale
blue paper.
For the lower
octopus, cut a 5cm length from
the crimped paper and glue
across the flat side of the body
to make the outer legs. Make
the remaining three pairs of legs
in the same way with slightly
shorter lengths of paper as you
work inward. For the upper
octopus, work the legs in the
same way but use shorter
lengths of paper for them.
Seaweed & Pebbles:
Make up the individual
pieces first as follows. From
quarter lengths of paper make
loose coils, four of brown, three of burnt orange,
two of pale green, two of olive green and two of
dark green. Make one half length loose coil in
dark green.
Shape the three dark
green coils by pinching
either side and flatten-
ing the base.
Shape the remaining
coils by pinching each
side of the coil and at
the same time pushing
the ends towards each
other slightly.

Make the main
seaweed clump from the four brown coils, the
two in light green and the two in olive green,
glueing them onto the card as you go. Add the
loose pebbles and plants along the sea bed and
the looped leaf at the side.
Make a folded leaf
in dark green as fol-
lows. Form a 3cm tall
loop and secure with
glue, fold the paper

Finally cut lengths of crimped olive green,
tapering the top end of each piece to make the
tall flowing weed, placing and glueing them
onto the card as you go.
