NEW BRITISH CAVE ART FOUND
80 of the earliest prehistoric engraved figures have been discovered in an English cave
The artwork, thought to be around 13,000 years 1ÈÈÈÈ., was found a year after an initial
discovery of 12 engravings in Creswell Crags which lie on the border 2ÈÈÈÈ.
Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
The original engravings 3ÈÈÈÈ. thought to be the earliest examples of prehistoric cave art
in Britain and have led the Crags to be deemed as a Site of Special Scientific Interest .
However new discoveries were made possible by the brilliant sunny mornings 4 ÈÈÈÈ.
April and June which shed good light into the caves.
The new pictures found include representations of bison, deer, bear and birds and have caused
Church Hole cave to 5 ÈÈÈÈ. called the Sistine Chapel of the Ice Age by the manager of

MIGRATION TRACE STEPPED UP
A new global project to trace historical human migration has begun
The five-year project, which aims to map the path of our ancestors from Africa, has begun
