Lama Gyurme and Jean-Philippe Rykiel - Souhaits Pour L'Eveil (Wishes for enlightenment) In 1995 I was attending several techings in the center of Lama Gyurme situaten in the beautiful park Daumesnil in Paris.After the teachings he used to just softly put on some music as people went out of the temple ... some very calm, soft and harmonious music that I had not heared in that style before. Ususally, when traditional Tibetan prayers had been accompanied by any electronic music, it was not digestible for my ears, to keep my criticism light. And I had heared all that I found in those times. This was so beautiful and fitting together ... I was enchanted. One of those days I went to ask what this was and found out that it was Lama Gyurme himself chanting with a blind French composer, Jean-Philippe Rykiel, who had created the music together. They had worked for long to make all the subtle adjustments, and a Cd was going to be released. However, there was no way for me to get a copy then as it was going to be released only the next year ... So I went back to Paris in 1996 to buy this CD. It was in the FNAC at Chatelet/Les Halles that I bought it, I remember clearly, and it cost 150 Francs, which was a lot ($25) - CDs were very expensive in France at that time. I listened to it a lot, and found it good in many occasions: just to relax, to be inspired, meditation, driving a car through a busy city ... Nobody besides a few people who happened to know Lama Gyurme knew about it, and already then I introduced it to several people who mosly liked it as well. So here it is for you, all my friends at DarksideRG, and all those who find it otherwise. Lama Gyurme was a main student of the late Kalu Rinpoche. He is an authentic teacher of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, very gentle and learned. With three other Lamas he has two centers in France, one in Paris and one in Normandy.
