Creating your own maps and levels
Rail of War has an extended map and level creator.
In this creator you are able to create your own maps and levels and even share them with other Rail of
War players.
How does it work:
From the main menu click on the create your level button.
You have levels and maps.
A level has to be made on a map.
The map is only the rail and the compounds.
The level is everything concerning enemies bonuses pickups etc.
There you can click on:
Load Map
This loads a map that you made before and want to continue building on.
New Map
This creates a new map based on one of the 5 backgrounds provided in this game
Load Level
This loads a level you made before and want to continue editing.
New Level
This creates a new level based on one of the maps you’ve been making and saving before.
So to make a level that you can play yourself you will have to start by picking a map and put rails on it.
Click on New Map and then select one of the 5 backgrounds.
There always is a start rail (when the map opens it’s red) and an end rail, on the other side of the map.
The basics of building a nice track are simple.
Click on Straight Rail or Curved Rail to lay down the next rail segment.
You can adjust the length of a straight rail.
If you lay down a curved rail you can also adjust the radius, this means the curve is smoother or more
straight.
To make a basic switch:
First lay down a curved
rail.
Click on the previous
straight rail (it now
turns red that you’ve
selected it)
Lay down a new
straight rail. A switch
automatically appears.
The switch is now
empty and needs to be
configured
Click on the small
arrow that is in the
direction of the
selected rail (in this
case to the right) Now
also select the curved
rail and click on the
arrow pointed down.
Don’t lay a straight rail over a straight rail or a curved rail over a curved rail.
If you do place a curved rail over a curved rail make sure the radius is different.

You can also attach a rail to the tracks that you have laid out.
Lay down another curved rail.
Because the angle is correct
and the end and beginning of
the two rails that have to be
connected are on the same
spot a snap button appears.
Click this to snap the two rails
together.
When the snap button is clicked
a switch automatically appears.
Don’t forget to configure it by
clicking on the arrow that is the
direction of the selected switch.
These are the basics of making a nice map.
After this, you have to save your map and create a level from it.
When you created a level with enemies and bonuses etc. save it and you can play it with every
unlocked train and weapon that you have.
You can also click on the XML OUTPUT button in the level create screen.
A window opens with a lot of code.
If you copy and paste this code in a xml file ( a basic notepad file where you change the .txt extension
in .xml) you can send it to your friends.
To import a xml level or map make sure it’s in the maps or levels directory.
(You can already try to import the Previewlevel.xml already in the levels directory.)
Than click import xml and save the file.
