C-Hook Name: map.dll/.txt - Surface curve mapping Date: January 20, 1998 Description: This C-hook allows for mapping a surface curve from one surface to another. Map simply copies the u, v coordinates from the selected surface curve (optionally swapping u and v) to the new surface curve and connects it to a new parent surface. The resulting shape of the new surface curve is a function of the u, v coordinates of the selected surface curve and the shape of the new parent surface. Generally, results in surface curve "morphing" from the first surface to the second surface. Use in connection with the surface flattening C-Hook (flatsrf.dll) for mapping curves from the flat to the original surface. Use Toolpaths / Multiaxis / Curve5ax for making a toolpath (5-axis or 3-axis) on the surface curve. MAP MENU: Map surface curves from one surface to another From surf Pick the surface to transfer the curve(s) from Swap u+v Map u into v and v into u - use if curve is incorrect To surf Pick the surface to map the curves(s) onto (This executes the job also) To use, create a surface and surface curves on that surface to map from (use Create / Surface / Project, select Surface Curves in Options). Create another surface to map onto. Execute the C-hook. Select "From surf" and select the surface with the curves on it. (No need to select the curves). Select "To surf" and select a surface to map onto. This can be done again to map onto another, third surface if desired. If the curve(s) come out flipped sideways, select "Swap u&v" and "To surf" again. Delete the originally created surface curves.
