The Award Web Center Award Starts Over 50 Million Computers Every Day. BIOS Setup User Guides This page is continually updated as Award adds support for new chipsets. There are now two types of online BIOS Setup documents: Documents produced before August 1996 (Revision 1.2) have two parts: a single, generic section for the portions of Setup that remain constant across all BIOS releases, plus a chipset-specific section for the parts of Setup that are customized for each chipset. Documents produced after July 1996 (Revision 1.3) are one, integrated document for each chipset customization. How to Match Your BIOS to a Document The tables in this page show the BIOS part number, the chipset name, and the document. (A lowercase 'x' represents unimportant characters in the part number.) The part number, the BIOS date, and the version appear at the bottom of your screen after power on, during memory count up. The PAUSE key should work at that point, so you can pause the screen to read the information. The part number also appears at the top of each Setup screen. How to View a BIOS Document You may view a document now online or download it in a zipped file. The zipped file is also an HTML document that you can view and print directly from your browser. Revision 1.3 BIOS Documents Chipset-Specific Setup Utility Manuals Each document describes the entire Setup utility as customized for a specific chipset. Note that because the BIOS is customized for and by each different manufacturer, your Setup may vary slightly from the utility described here. WARNING! DO NOT interrupt the upgrade program while it runs! Any interruption (e.g., power failure or system reset) leaves the system with NO BIOS. In such a case, you must obtain and physically install a new BIOS EPROM. Revision 1.2 Setup Documents Revision 1.2 BIOS Setup documents have two sections: Generic Setup and Chipset-Specific Setup. Generic Setup. Generic Setup includes Setup options common to all Award 4.51 BIOS releases in the Standard CMOS, BIOS Features, and Password screens, plus a description of the other Setup functions such as loading default values and configuring IDE hard drives. The file also contains BIOS POST codes and error messages. View Now Download Now Chipset-Specific Setup.
