Using the Torg Drama Deck with MasterBook Rules

In general, the Torg Drama Deck may be used with the MasterBook game system without modification, just by reading what's on the card. Nonetheless, here are some guidelines to make the Torg Drama Deck more like the MasterDeck.

Note that there are more cards in the Torg deck than in the MasterDeck, so your players could come across various cards more frequently than if using the MasterDeck.

On the initiative lines, H refers to players' characters ("heroes"), while V refers to gamemaster's characters ("villains").

Whenever you see "test" as an action (such as "test/trick"), treat this as "taunt."

If the card indicates it may be spent to gain a single Possibility, the player may use it to receive one Life Point. If the card indicates it may be spent to gain multiple Possibilities, the player receives an equivalent number of skill points for playing it.

Consider "complication" on the Dramatic Skill Resolution line as "possible setback."

The Torg card "Master Plan" is equivalent to the MasterBook card "Claim."

The Torg card "Coup de Grace" is equivalent to the MasterBook card "Effect." If desired, the gamemaster may lower the bonus given on the card to the MasterBook bonus of +2 (instead of the +3 given).

The "Action" card in Torg gives a +3 bonus, while the "Action" card in MasterBook gives a +1 bonus. The gamemaster may change the Torg card if desired.

The "Rally" cards work slightly differently in Torg and MasterBook. The gamemaster may allow the card used as its text indicates, or he may follow the MasterBook rulebook description.

Remove these cards from the Drama Deck: 91-94 Glory, 95 Monologue, 124 True Identity, 156 Escape, and the blanks.

These cards have no equivalent in Torg, so they will never come up in play (unless you add the cards): Double Cross, Breakthrough, Common Ground, or any of the picture cards. If you'd like, you can write the names of the four specific picture cards (Wild, Interloper, Disaster, and Opportunity) on the blank cards. You can use the other removed cards for the missing MasterDeck equivalents. Simply cross out the card name and the Enhancement/Subplot text and write the new name underneath. Use the bottom part of the card as written on the card. You will need to refer to the MasterBook rulebook for the card effect description.
