Overview
TMC add-on in Black Edition supports traffic event reception over RDS. Currently, only GNS RDS
receiver is supported. To enable TMC in Black Edition, follow these steps:
1. Edit Ordinale.INI file and put these two lines at the bottom of the file:
[TMC]
UseGNS=1
This will enable listening of TMC events using GNS receiver on COM port 1. If your GNS receiver
is set to different COM port, write UseGNS=n, where n is order number of GNS COM port (for
example, if your GNS receiver is on COM4, put UseGNS=4).
In all cases, baud rate for communication with GNC receiver will be set to 38400.
2. Download TMC add on file ( tmc_be.zip ) and unzip it to Black Edition folder. TMC add on
consists of gpstmc.dll (GNS driver), tmc_images.cpf (additional images required for TMC add-
on) and one subfolder named locdb . This folder contains TMC location tables.
Traffic events on the map
Similarly to other concepts in Black Edition, handling traffic events is map centric . It means that there
is no “list of all traffic events” anywhere in Black Edition, but rather traffic events are displayed
directly on the map. A traffic event on the map is represented by small traffic sign located at the
traffic problem origin, and road segments affected by that traffic problem are marked additionally
with dark red color. One typical example is shown on the figure below:

Traffic information display on the map can be enabled or disabled by using button. Note,
however, that even if you disable traffic events' display, Black Edition will still continue to receive and
update traffic information in the background.
Traffic event details
Traffic information displayed on the map are “tap”-sensitive. When you tap on the traffic sign
representing a traffic event, you will get detailed information about that event displayed in separate
window:
Data displayed here describe road number (N9 in the above example) where traffic problem occurred,
appropriate road segment (Aalst-Gent) and two junctions between which problem happened (Gent >>
Melle).
Moreover, traffic detail will be textually described (Closed) and rough distance from you to that event
is presented.
Finally, green text at the bottom of this screen displays time of the last update of this event as
received through RDS receiver.
If it happens that your navigation route passes through road segment affected by a traffic event,
window with traffic details will contain warning message (This event is on your route) and one more
button will be added to the window allowing you to explicitly instruct Black Edition to recalculate
route so that route will no longer pass through that problem (Avoid).

Traffic system settings
There is one single page within system settings which allows you to check TMC reception health an to
configure system behavior when an traffic problem occurs. You can reach this page using commands
Menu->Settings->Traffic settings:
RDS tuning is handled automatically by Black Edition and it cannot be changed.
If you want Black Edition to always automatically recalculate your route if a traffic event happens to
be on your route, then check the option “Avoid problems automatically”.
