I have a funny little modeling idea for Mordheim: Torches!
You all have your own collection of ruined buildings? Great! Why not add some
extra details? I just found out how to make torches yourself and hang them on
your walls. Now, listen:
You cut off a very little piece of balsa wood ("torch-sized" :-)), then you cut off a
small piece of a plastic sprue. Take a candle, go outside and light the candle.
With a pincet you take the plastic piece and melt it in the fire (that’s why you go
outside - if you do it inside you won’t be able to be in that room for weeks! :-)),
and then, while it is soft, you put it on the end of the torch. When it has become a
bit harder you can begin to give the plastic shape as a small flame. This is easy
indeed with some metal scrap or something like that. If it does not work, then you
just melt the plastic once again and give it another try! :-)
When you have made the torch, you can glue it on a smaller stick that will hold it
once it is glued to the wall. When you paint the wall, then you just drybrush the
areas around the torch in a lighter color - that looks cool!
