Main Purpose

 

·         To ensure the quality of cleanliness of the fleet is maintained by ensuring that all cleaning and associated work is completed within the specified period, and meets the required Group Standards.

 

 

Main Areas of Responsibility

 

·         To maintain appearance of the vehicle at optimum levels.

 

·         To fully comply with all HS & E legislation along with Group policies.

 

·         To fully comply with all relevant Engineering SOPs.

 

·         To provide guidance to other staff as required.

 

·         Communicate effectively with colleagues and superiors.

Introduction

 

The following information is to provide a more rounded understanding of the role and some information of the requirements of the post holder.

 



PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT (Key performance indicators which you will be measured against)

 

·         Cleaning standards audited and measure against SOPs.

·         Timekeeping.

 

Health & Safety

 

·         To be aware of First UK Bus and your own responsibilities under the Health & Safety at work etc Act 1974

·         To take care of your own safety and the safety of others.

·         To ensure that where personal protective equipment such as high visibility vest, eye protection and head protection is specified and issued for a particular activity or area, it is used in the appropriate manner.

·         To comply with the law and all company policies and First Safety Principles at all times. The use of mobile phones is prohibited whilst driving as smoking in a company vehicle or the use of prohibited equipment. Steering wheel covers must be used when working on vehicles.

·         To report to their manager or supervisor any injury, collision, dangerous occurrence or a near miss in which they were involved, or are aware of having taken place at their place of work, or any concern regarding any health or safety issue.

·         To co-operate with management in the investigation of injuries, collisions or other incidents, in training programmes, safety campaigns and the achievement of health and safety performance targets.

·         To make full use of the Health and Safety Committees by making suggestions to improve health and safety.

·         To use hazardous substances, operate plant and equipment, drive and manoeuvre buses safely and in accordance with the information, training and instruction received.

·         To ensure that all contractors follow the group on-site health and safety policy.

·         To participate in the promotion a safety culture at all times through the ipp process. Staff should have access to their ipp handbook at all times whilst at work and participate fully in all safety conversations carried out.

 

Environmental Management

 

·         To ensure compliance with the requirements of the environmental management manual at depot level.

·         To report incidents and complaints to the Engineering Manager.

·         To report immediately, to the Engineering Manager, any leak, unauthorised or accidental discharge or any other hazards to the environment.

·         To ensure protective clothing and equipment is used at all times.

 

Technical Knowledge and Training

 

·         Use of equipment to include vacuuming machines, wet vac machines, chemicals, cloths, leathers, brushes, scrapers, mops, buckets, bus washes, pressure washers, fuelling equipment, chemical dispensing equipment and any other equipment required to do the job.

·         Must be in the possession of, or capable of obtaining a full PCV licence and forklift truck licence if required.

·         To participate in relevant training updates.

 

Working Practices

 

·         To undertake cleaning and associated work to the required standards/targets, ensuring the optimum appearance of both vehicles and premises.

·         Vehicle/ancillary vehicle cleaning to include all interior/exterior cleaning of the vehicle as required.

·         To record details of all work done and accurately complete any necessary sheets/record cards.

·         To minimise wastage by ensuring the correct use – along with the safe and secure storage – of all materials and equipment.

·         To work in a clean and tidy manner by ensuring debris is not left for others to clean up and that equipment is in a clean and proper state at the end of each shift/duty and is returned to the appropriate storage place.

·         To ensure, so as not to adversely affect any cleaning schedule/programme, that lost, defective or inoperative equipment is reported immediately to your Chargehand/Supervisor/Manager.

·         To ensure that any graffiti which cannot be removed by the appropriate initial effort is reported on a daily basis, along with any damaged seat frames, damaged or missing seat cushions and any exterior damage to your Chargehand/Supervisor.

 

Communication and Teamwork

 

·         To encourage, develop and train all team members so as to achieve optimum performance and provide for career development opportunities as may be available from time to time. 

·         To give training and guidance to other trades, trainees and non-craft personnel as required.

·         To actively and willingly participate in any training and development programmes.

·         To keep up to date with all information that affects your job.

·         To ask for and receive feedback in a positive and constructive manner.

·         To gather and analyse all facts, and then make a responsible and informed decision.

·         To be non-discriminatory and report any bullying or harassment in the workplace.
