High Elf Careers
by Richard Iorio II
inspired by Game Workshop Warhammer Armies: High Elves
As promised in my 8 part series I posted to the WFRP Mailing List here are all the High Elf careers in a more cleaned up version. These careers should be used by High Elf PC's and NPC’s and are not suited for the other races. Of all them the Shadow Warrior would be the easiest to incorporate into an existing WFRP campaign. These careers have been play tested and were used in a High Elf campaign I ran for about a Year and a half. I hope you enjoy them.

All elves of noble birth are raised in the saddle, and it is a part of the culture to teach the youth the art of riding. It is said that in Ulthuan a elf knows how to ride even before they know how to walk. Since the reign of the Phoenix King Morvael, all elves regardless of birth serve with Ulthuan's military. Morvael was a visionary and he saw a need for a well organized military that could be mobilized in times of great need. Since the reign of Morvael the Silver Helms have been in existence. The order derives their name from the tall shinning helmets they wear in battle. In the elven tongue the word knight is "Ithilthuen" and translated means "Silver Helm."
The Silver Helms make up a small, but powerful core of the Phoenix Kings armies. Though they may be weaker than humans when it comes to physical strength. The knights are deadly with their martial skills. A Silver Helm is a competent leader and a shinning example of High Elf military excellence.

In ancient times in the Kingdom of Caledor was the home to dragons. The ancient bloodlines of the royal houses would train these great beasts and ride them into battle. The Dragon Princes would ride above Ulthuan and fight for the safety of their realm. Today the dragons slumbering their lairs located in the Dragon's Spines and Vaul's Anvil. Though Caledor was once a powerful Kingdom it's glory has passed with the dragon's sleep. Yet this has not effected Caledor that greatly. Today instead of riding their dragon steeds the elves ride horses. Caledor's pre-eminence is a sources of great pride. Their traditions are strong and they view themselves as the elite of Ulthuan. Among the rest of Ulthuan the phrase "Prince of Caledor" is a way to describe arrogance. Even in battle Caledor's banner does not dip to acknowledge the rule of the Phoenix King.
Besides their arrogance the Dragon Riders are known for their distinctive armor. This armor is modeled after the style worn by the Dragon Riders of old. The armor is of metal and is tinged in the colors of red, green and orange. The color motif is also carried over to the horse barding as well. Even though they are arrogant Dragon Rider's are respected for their skill and strength in battle.

Lothern—the greatest of all Ulthuan cities. it is the capital of Ulthuan's most powerful kingdom Eataine. Just like every kingdom Lothern provides warrior for the military, but these warriors are sailors. Unlike the majority of elven legions that are called in time of war the sea guard is always at full strength, and retains a core of full-time sailors. The primary mission of the Sea Guard's is to defend Lothern and the sea ways around Ulthuan.
